Yep little ends look good. Bottom of pistons all good.

I'll  just bit the bullet and yank it, so much easier to work on.  :-X

Pulled engine out this arvo. Thats about it.
I'm  a bit like you I  need time.  :(

Pretty sure I'm  going to put Lockies 1.3 back in iregardless of whats wrong, Efi it, and remove 2" body lift and put in 2"suspension lift.

Well thats the plan should have that done by May for Coffs.  rofl

Interested inthe reason your pulling the body lift in favour for suspension. Your car works well, I'm actually going to flatter springs for reduced height and better flex

The body lift was only in to accommodate the engine.
Suspension lift will give a bit more under body clearance.

Current suspension is standard less 1 spring.

Lockies engine pulls hard as it has been rebuilt and has got a 60/20 cam.  The smaller engine will hopefully make it feel more sure footed on steep descents. Yep as good as Snotbox. Chalk and cheese comparison in feel it that regard.

I'm  thinking of making a manifold adaptor between the gti manifold and g13a sohc head. I'll  put the injectors in there and see how it goes.  ???

Mental stress days.

Well the winch wasn't  free spooling so it was time to have a look. This hasn't  been pulled down since new 3 years ago.
Surprised  at how clean it was no signs of water ingress.

I did find a small amount of metal filings.  This came from scoring of the outer casing.
What had happened was the second  outer ring had been bruised by the freespool selector.  This small amount of bruising  in conjunction  with the metal  flings prevented the second outer ring from turning hence no free spool.

Bruising of second ring.

Scoring of housing.

A little bit of filing and she freespools again.  :pompoms:

New radiator  now installed  and plumbed in.

Now to redo the front bar as I  needed to cut it off as the  tube flare bots had rusted up.

Well with the head gasket done, time to look at the compressor for the lockers.

Not going to fix that broken shaft.  :tmsdwn:

On the positive side I've managed to bend the slider down about 5mm.
